Cozy Crockpot Apple Cider - featured image

A simple, aromatic slow cooker apple cider infused with cinnamon, cloves, and orange. This easy recipe requires minimal prep time and provides a warm, comforting drink perfect for cold days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 gallon fresh apple cider (cloudy, cold-pressed preferred)
  • 34 large cinnamon sticks
  • 68 whole cloves
  • 2 star anise pods (optional)
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
  • 1 teaspoon whole allspice berries
  • Brown sugar or maple syrup, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the orange thoroughly and slice it into rounds, removing any seeds.
  2. Pour the gallon of apple cider into a 4-6 quart slow cooker.
  3. Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, star anise, allspice berries, and orange slices to the slow cooker.
  4. Add brown sugar or maple syrup if desired, and stir gently to combine.
  5. Cover and set the slow cooker to LOW for 3-4 hours. Do not use HIGH heat.
  6. After 3 hours, taste the cider and adjust spices or sweetness if needed.
  7. Switch the slow cooker to the WARM setting to keep the cider hot until serving.

Notes

Do not boil the cider on high heat as it can make the flavor muddy and evaporate the liquid too quickly. Use whole spices only; ground spices will cloud the drink. If storing leftovers, remove orange slices after heating to prevent them from becoming mushy. The cider can stay on the ‘Warm’ setting for 4-6 hours.
