A quick and easy autumn treat featuring crisp apple wedges coated in warm caramel and topped with crushed hard candy, chilled for a satisfying snap.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large apples (Honeycrisp or Gala recommended)
  • 16-ounce jar prepared caramel sauce
  • 1 cup crushed hard candy (e.g., Red Hots, peppermint bark, or candy canes)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Remove cores and slice into wedges 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Place hard candy in a Ziploc bag and crush into small pieces and shards using a rolling pin or heavy pan.
  3. Line a baking sheet with plastic wrap or parchment paper.
  4. Warm the caramel sauce in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until warm and pourable.
  5. Dip one side of each apple slice into the warm caramel, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Place slices caramel-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Immediately sprinkle crushed candy over the wet caramel on each slice, pressing gently to adhere.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes until the caramel is firm to the touch.
  9. Remove from the baking sheet and serve chilled.

Notes

Ensure apples are dry before dipping to help caramel stick. Do not over-crush the candy; you want texture, not powder. If caramel hardens during dipping, microwave for 10 seconds to soften. Best eaten fresh within 24 hours for optimal crunch.
