A quick and easy Halloween treat featuring mini hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough with mustard eyes, perfect for parties or late-night snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 package (12-16 pieces) mini hot dogs or cocktail wieners
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash, optional)
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white cream cheese or sour cream (optional, to thicken mustard)
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. If necessary, cut mini hot dogs in half or thirds to fit the dough strips. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough and cut it into 1-inch wide strips.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with a dough strip, twisting slightly to create a ‘bandage’ look. Leave the ends exposed as snouts and tuck them under slightly.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  6. Brush the tops with egg wash if using.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for 1-2 minutes.
  9. Mix mustard with cream cheese or sour cream if desired to thicken.
  10. Pipe or dot two small eyes onto each ‘snout’ using the mustard mixture.
  11. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Ensure hot dogs are dry before wrapping to help dough stick. Twist the dough for the mummy effect. Let baked items cool slightly before adding mustard to prevent it from melting. Can be frozen unbaked.
