These Easy Halloween Mummy Hot Dogs are a fun, fast, and foolproof party snack that kids love. Made with just hot dogs, crescent roll dough, and candy eyes, they’re ready in under 20 minutes and perfect for any Halloween celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-sized hot dogs
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Candy eyes or mustard (for eyes)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Open the can of crescent rolls and unroll the dough. Pinch the perforated seams together to create one solid rectangle. Cut the dough into thin strips, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide (16-20 strips per can).
  3. Take one hot dog and start wrapping a strip of dough around it, starting at one end. Leave a small gap at the top for the eyes. Overlap the dough slightly as you go. Leave the ends of the hot dog slightly exposed. Repeat with all hot dogs. Place each wrapped mummy on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down, leaving about an inch of space between them.
  4. Optional: In a small bowl, whisk together 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the tops of the dough strips lightly with the egg wash.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed, and the hot dogs are heated through.
  6. Let the mummies cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes. Using a tiny dab of mustard (or ketchup), attach the candy eyes. If using mustard, squeeze two small dots directly onto the hot dog for the eyes.
  7. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For best results, don’t overwork the dough. Leave room for the eyes by not wrapping dough all the way to the top. If dough strips unroll while baking, press the end firmly against the hot dog and place seam-side down. Double the batch for a party. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in a 350ยฐF oven for 5-7 minutes. Freeze unbaked wrapped mummies for up to 2 months.
