Easy Halloween Popcorn Mix - featured image

A quick and festive Halloween snack made with buttery popcorn, orange candies, and a light sugar glaze. This easy-to-assemble treat is perfect for last-minute parties and requires no baking skills.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups plain popcorn (air-popped or lightly salted microwave popcorn, cooled)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup orange candy corn
  • 1 cup orange M&Ms or Reese’s Pieces
  • 1/2 cup black candy-coated sunflower seeds or mini pretzels
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Ensure popcorn is completely cooled and measure out 6 cups into a large mixing bowl (4-5 quarts). Remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter until liquid and foamy. Do not let it brown.
  3. Stir in the granulated sugar and salt. Stir constantly for 1-2 minutes until the sugar dissolves and forms a light syrup.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the warm glaze evenly over the popcorn in the mixing bowl.
  6. Gently fold the popcorn with a silicone spatula to coat lightly without crushing the kernels.
  7. Add the orange candy corn, M&Ms (or Reese’s Pieces), and black candy-coated seeds (or pretzels).
  8. Continue to gently fold everything together until combined.
  9. Spread the mixture on a parchment-lined baking sheet or leave in the bowl to cool for 10-15 minutes until the glaze firms up.
  10. Give the mix a final toss to break up any clusters and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Ensure popcorn is completely cooled before adding glaze to prevent clumping. Use low heat when melting butter and sugar to avoid burning. Store in an airtight container to maintain crispness; avoid refrigeration. For a gluten-free version, ensure all candies and popcorn are certified gluten-free.
