These Easy Honey Garlic Salmon Foil Packets are a quick, delicious, and mess-free dinner. Ready in under 20 minutes with simple ingredients, this recipe delivers perfectly flaky, sticky-sweet salmon with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each), skin-on or skinless
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together ¼ cup honey, 4 minced garlic cloves, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Taste and adjust if needed.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Tear off four large sheets of heavy-duty foil, each about 12 inches long. Place one salmon fillet in the center of each sheet. Spoon the glaze generously over each fillet, coating the top and sides. Reserve a little glaze for drizzling later if desired.
  5. Bring the two long sides of the foil together over the salmon and fold them over twice to seal. Then fold the ends up tightly, leaving a little room inside for steam to circulate.
  6. Place the packets on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets. For a 1-inch thick fillet, 13 minutes is usually perfect. The salmon should flake easily with a fork and register 145°F (63°C) internally.
  7. Carefully open the packets (watch out for the steam) and transfer the salmon to plates. Spoon any juices from the packet over the top. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

Pat the salmon dry before glazing to ensure the glaze sticks. Seal the foil packets tightly to trap steam. Let the salmon rest in the sealed packet for 2 minutes after baking. For extra sauce, double the glaze and set some aside before adding to raw salmon.
