These easy mummy pigs in a blanket are a fun, fast Halloween snack made with crescent roll dough and mini hot dogs, wrapped to look like tiny mummies. Ready in under 25 minutes, they’re perfect for parties and kid-approved.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 package (12 oz) mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages
  • Mustard or candy eyes for decoration
  • 1 large egg (optional, for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for texture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough on a clean cutting board or work surface. If using perforated crescent rolls, press the seams together gently with your fingers to seal them.
  3. Cut the dough into thin strips. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the dough lengthwise into strips about ½ inch wide. You should get about 12 to 16 strips.
  4. Wrap each mini hot dog. Take one strip of dough and start wrapping it around a mini hot dog at a slight angle, overlapping the dough as you go. Leave a small gap near the top for the face—about ¼ inch of exposed hot dog. Tuck the end of the dough strip underneath the wrapped mummy to secure it. Repeat with the remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  5. Place the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. Optional: Brush with egg wash. Beat one egg with a tablespoon of water and brush a thin layer over each mummy.
  7. Optional: Sprinkle with seeds. If using sesame or poppy seeds, sprinkle a tiny pinch over each wrapped mummy before baking.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let them cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack or serving platter.
  10. Add the eyes. If using mustard, dip a toothpick into the mustard and dab two small dots on the exposed hot dog area. If using candy eyes, press them gently into the warm dough.

Notes

Don’t overwrap the hot dogs—leave a little exposed for the face. Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Watch the oven after 10 minutes to prevent over-browning. Double the batch for a crowd. For best results, reheat leftovers in an oven or air fryer, not a microwave.
