Halloween Pizza Faces - featured image

A quick and interactive Halloween dinner recipe using simple ingredients like pizza dough, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni to create spooky faces. Perfect for kids and busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound refrigerated pizza dough
  • All-purpose flour (for dusting)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara
  • 1 to 1.5 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • Sliced pepperoni rounds
  • Sliced black olives
  • Thinly sliced green bell pepper
  • Sliced button mushrooms
  • Whole or sliced green olives

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425ยฐF (220ยฐC). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
  2. Remove pizza dough from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Dust a work surface with flour and roll the dough into a large circle or oval, or divide into 4-6 smaller balls for mini pizzas.
  4. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust.
  5. Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  6. Create faces using toppings: use pepperoni for eyes, black olives for pupils, green pepper strips for hair or mouths, and mushrooms for details.
  7. Place the pizza on a baking sheet or stone.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Let the pizza cool for 2-3 minutes to allow the cheese to set.
  10. Slice into triangles or squares and serve warm.

Notes

Let dough rest at room temperature to make it easier to shape. Use low-moisture mozzarella to prevent a soggy crust. Press toppings gently into the cheese before baking to prevent them from falling off. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free crust or naan bread.
