These spooky mummy hot dogs are a quick and easy Halloween appetizer featuring crescent roll dough wrapped around frankfurters with intricate spider web ketchup eyes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (11 oz) canned crescent roll dough
  • 8 to 10 standard hot dogs (beef, turkey, or chicken)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (thick consistency)
  • Olive oil or cooking spray (for baking sheet)
  • Optional: Mustard, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly coat with oil or spray.
  3. Unroll crescent roll dough and cut each triangle in half lengthwise to create 1-inch wide strips.
  4. Wrap a dough strip around each hot dog, overlapping slightly, leaving a small gap at the top for the face and covering about 80% of the dog.
  5. Place wrapped hot dogs on the baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the dough is golden brown and puffy.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Fill a small Ziploc bag with ketchup and snip off a tiny corner.
  9. Pipe a circle for the eye on the exposed part of the hot dog, then pipe thin lines radiating from the center to create a spider web pattern.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

Keep dough cold until use to prevent sticking. Do not overwrap the hot dog to ensure the face is visible. Rotate baking sheet halfway through if your oven has hot spots. Do not use puff pastry as it expands too much. Reheat leftovers in an air fryer or oven to maintain crispiness; avoid the microwave.
